OT Today I am feeling well disposed towards the world and it shows

  1. I tracked down a uk supplier of The Right Strings for a Uke and banged
in me order on the interweb for four sets and decided that I might as
well treat meself to a bit of luxury and ordered up two bridges with a
flash bit of ebony inlay on the top like to see if it did more to the
music than make me look real cool.

Email comes back an hour later, from a human, saying order received but
the bridges are out of stock and would I accept the plain maple
    substitute.

"No probs," say's I, "The bridges are only a vanity so I can afford to
wait and as long as they go on back order let's do it."

The jiffy bag arrives and out tumbles the four sets of strings and a
couple of FOAD Bridges what are not quite what I had in mind for my 93p
each. I know The Almighty Dollar is down a point or 90 but you simply
don't get that much wood for that little money. Not retail certainly.

Banjo bridges are a masterpiece of function and design. Almost nothing
to them yet they support and survive all the pounding they get from
untalented oiks such as I with ease. Truly a matter of some mystery to
me. But mystery or not I now have a problem, I am no expert in these
matters and for all I know these here FOAD bridges might just be what
turns me from an utter waste of a strum in George himself and that
everybody who is anybody in the world of Masterclass Ukulele Banjo would
    use nothing else.

The clue though was in the number on the bottom of one of the logs and
the difference between it and the number on the paperwork, 5 as it turns
out, this being the difference between 1367 and 1362. 1362 being the
number on the order and 1367 being that scribbled in pencil on the ones
I got. I ventured off to the web site for a bit of research.

    Oh dear.

Nice site and all that, after all I wouldn't have got as far as ordering
in the first place if it wasn't inviting me in and all that consumer
preference shit but a shame only half of it was working. The Banjo bits
and paying half as it happened.

For some reason this gathering little saga has, uncharacteristically,
    simply amused me.

So, I wrote them a nice polite email pointing out that I had some good
news for them and some bad. The bad being the issues they have got in
despatch and the good being that I don't GAF.

    Am I going mad?
