From the comfort of my living room and compliments of PBS and the Internet,
I have carefully watched the unfolding of a historical event.. Having
experienced the state convention in Houston this year, my sympathies and
gratitude, for the brothers and sisters of our state, who attended this
National gathering, should be noted.. It is to their credit, that they
should be the leaders who will return home and influence our political
decisions for the upcoming and crucial election, this November..

While many of us grumble and grouse about the many inconveniences of our
everyday lives, few have the courage and convictions to get off our cans to
make ANY difference.. We find various excuses to NOT take action that will
contribute to making a difference.. Most of us don't even realize what
sacrifices are being made by the brothers and sisters, who represent our
best interests as they dedicate the week in Boston, Massachusetts..

Quite a few of those brothers and sisters have ridden with us on the
highways of our state.. We've waved to each other as we passed .. Some of
them, I know personally and have ridden with them.. I've caught glimpses of
their faces on my television as they represent me in one of the most
important events taking place, this election year.. Thank you, Brother and
    Thank you, my Sister..

The contrasts between the current administration and the proposed leaders of
our Nation, are apparent .. The changes of leadership can only enhance our
hopes, to build a better world around us..

We've also had a glimpse of the visions of the proposed leadership that must
change the directions of our great state and nation.. That leadership must
reflect the dreams and hopes of all of us, as we struggle to make sense of
the insanity we see around the world, even in our own government.. The
responsibility of our government policies lie on the shoulders of each of
us.. It is a reflection of our own integrity, honor and courage..

The words of the leaders of the Democratic Party Leaders, who gave their
testimonies during this convention are the words of what is possible and
what we can make happen, in November.. Our individual responsibilities
cannot be shifted .. All of us share that responsibility..

The convention is ended.. We have heard from the wisest and most honorable
amongst us.. Together.. we can reclaim our government and return the control
of our government, where it belongs.. in the hands of the people of the
United States of America..The opportunity to recover the control of our
government may never present itself again for many years to come.. We must
not allow this opportunity to pass, through indifference or party
    affiliation..

This election year, is the time for all of us, as Americans, to shoulder the
responsibilities left us, by the Founders of this Republic.. One Nation,
Indivisible, Under God.. is the words of our Pledge of Allegiance.. those
are not merely words .. they are testimony of what we stand for..

The selection of our leaders is an awesome and intimidating responsibility..
Those leaders we select, are going to determine whether or not, this country
has the wisdom to remain a World Leader.. As the most powerful Nation on
this earth, we have to demonstrate, in the selection of our leaders, that
Americans have the wisdom to deserve that status..
