Congrats Ausmotians, the spamming is obviously working, Nat has nudged the
    bimbo out of 2nd spot.

Of course Dad has done nothing at work this month, just clicking on the
"Vote for Me" button. Just imagine how Nat would go if he stopped clicking
    on Joanne.

Heheh - could've been my script :) I'm using my employer's web monitoring
system to randomly lodge between 50-100 votes at least 12 times a day.
Basically it randomises the number of votes and the interval every 2 hours.

Custom thing, but the "custom thing" is run from SiteScope by Mercury
Interactive (used to be Freshwater Software):
    http://www.mercuryinteractive.com/products/sitescope/

Basically, SiteScope calls my script every 5 minutes and my script reads a
file (which contains the next execution time as a number of seconds since
epoch and number of votes to make - this hides the meaning of the file from
"other admins", its got two numbers separated by a tab!)

If current time >= next execution, the script does the voting, then
randomises the next execution time and number of votes writes it to a file,
tells sitescope that ?? votes were lodged and sleeps. Now I can view when
my script ran and how many votes it made from SiteScope :)

Probably the same sort of thing the ACA producers use for the polls on their
website... err.. except for the random bit.

Heheh - it's all lies and statistics!

I used a similar method for lodging competition entries for a "GetAway"
promotion where you could win a car personally delivered by Katrina
Rowntree (damn!). The web site to enter was a prick coz you had to click
through 20-bazillion ads before you got the competition form. Anyway, I
sniffed out the HTTP "POST" variables then scripted it to enter me every
    minute.

I got a letter from Channel 9 after 4 days (the comp. ran for a week)
telling me to stop or they'd commence legal action! Apparently the terms
and conditions for entry was that you weren't allowed to use "automated"
systems for entering. I guess one entry every minute, on the knocker, was
    a bit of a give-away.

That's the reason I randomised the votes for Tali :)

I thought it might be sitescope, that was the software used at a job i held about 3-4 years ago.
Whooped backside over any other monitoring software, and it was useful too. :). the only downside
was it was able to sms us admins when things broke instead of us going "OMFG" the next working
day. Actually it was a good thing, we got $100/week if on call that week and an extra $50 for each
callout above 2 callouts per week. :)

But i like what you've done, very creative. im paqrtly curious as to how the software has changed
    since '00.

The web monitor I'm using runs in our data centre in Boston. Courtesy of
the load balancers the source IP will rotate through our /24 sub-net. So
    we should be right.
