  1. Good call.... I bought some of that from a farmers market in Gap when we
    stopped for lunch last year.
    Very nice indeed.
I'll ask why they don't stock it.

I used to love gimlets. If I'd thought I could have bought limes
today, as it is I have lemons. And a G&T with no lemon in it - muppet
    that I am.

They occasionally have it at our nearest Waitrose, but not often enough.
For something rather more solid I enjoy Ossau-Iraty, and they always
    seem to have that.

well, "no lemon" is OK in a G&T as long as there's a slice of lime.

In any case, G&Ts are for those who can't handle Martinis.

And Martinis are for those who can't handle Gibsons.

And Gibsons are for those who can't handle glugging gin straight from
the bottle whilst crunching a pickled onion.

Yes. Have you read the rest of this subthread?)
I'm not a fan of Martinis, TBH.
    A what?
OK - I'll give that a go. A mate of mine pickles his own onions with
chillies. They're superb and I still have a jar.

exactly the same as a Martini, but with a cocktail onion instead of
    the olive.
    go for it.

    It's a fair cop guv.

I rectified the situation. No more G&T for me for while (tomorrow
night at a guess) as I've finished the bottle.

  17. I didn't know he drank. He certainly doesn't on stage[1].

    Phil.

[1] This is (of course) a Marillion-related comment that will be
    ignored by anyone except LN.

What is it with drinking, or lack of it, on stage these days? Has it
    been banned?

Back in the day, it wasn't uncommon for the lead singer to be swigging
almost constantly from a bottle of something, frequently JD.
I go to a fair few gigs and these days if they drink anything at all,
it's bloody bottled water! It's not exactly 'rock and roll', is it?

At least Barley Scotch[1] got through a few[2] bottles of Old Speckled
Hen last time I saw them.
    *cough*

    [2] At least six.
