You big wuss. I've been doing that for the last 5 years, until I got
    this new sooper-dooper whizzy-fandango groovy-stripey lens insert[1].

[1] Prismatic lens insert which corrects my terrible double vision until
I have my left eye operated on.

  4. Well, yes. I just don't see the point of being inflammatory.[/QUOTE]

    To a point. And it's a two-way street.

On the other hand, why let someone get away with posting complete
bollocks[1] time and again without at least pointing out that it *is*
    bollocks.

    Hey-ho: wot's dun is dun.

[1] We all do, but YKWIM.

  5. Yeah, which means too lots of training fees, two test fees, etc. Figure
on two grand as total cost. Don't forget the medical (one day I'll post
here how I managed to wing the eyesight test).

I never worked as a trucker like Tuppy or you. I'd like to think I could
fall back on it if everything else went phut.

SuperDrug in Croydon are advertising at their depot. 30k they say. Bet

    there, obviously.
I've been steaming past these on on A420 for 14 months.

How do they square that with drivers' hours?

On hold, Its dependent on the outcome of the licences, If I can get them
back then the loss is up to the time I start earning, If I cannot then as
there is no guarantee DVLA will return them later we are looking for loss
of earnings for the rest of my working life.

My brain is still trying to adjust to having 3D vision again, with depth
perception and a proper field of view. It's very difficult to describe
jut how much of a difference this lens has made.

I have spent the last god knows how long riding and driving almost blind
    in one eye without realising.

Over the last six months or so, my comfortable focussing distance has gone
out from about 10" to 15". This is as predicted by my optician, but about
five years late. Which is nice.

    Fifteen? You lucky bastard.

I haven't got a measure here, but it's less than the width of a DVD
    case.

Which is a massive improvement on 20 years ago: - I once read a line
on a sight test that wasn't as far away as the end of my nose.
