OT : Software question

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Paul Corfield, Nov 19, 2003.

  1. Can anyone recommend a cheap / free software package that can edit and
    save updated PDF files?

I've looked at the "proper" Adobe stuff and I can't afford to shell out
hundreds of quid for what may be a once off task.

If it's MS word/excel docs > pdf conversions a lot of linux distros have
a pdf writer included. If that's too much of a PITA and its one off
simple conversions you're after email me the docs and I'll convert them
    for you.

  3. It is actually a map that is composed in Acrobat from several layers
then saved as a PDF that I wish to edit and then save back as a PDF.
Believe me you would not want the editing job for love nor money but the
    offer is much appreciated.

As for Linux - well I ain't got a clue mate. Beyond me I'm afraid.

If its a one off (or up to 5 doc's) conversion to adobe it can be done
    FOC via their web site.

Or, After further checking, Acrobat 6.0 is available for a free 30 day
    trial period.

I _think_ OpenOffice will do that. I certainly know it will save .pdf
files, so it's worth a try.

Open Office will only export to PDF. There are no drivers or fancy software to
open and edit it. (Adobe wanted too much)
