OT Secondhand Macs

    Hmm, I've not come across that problem, everything I've done has saved
    as a .doc no problem, and appeared okay when viewed on a PC. I'm just
    working on my CV at the moment, so I'll keep my eyes open for it -

    I used a £1 mic from PoundLand in my MacBook Pro a few weeks ago and
    it worked.

    I'm sure you did. Not sure what that has to do with the Line In (not
    mic) port on a Mac Mini though?

    And there's the fact that OO is rather different to use to word, for
    anything beyond knocking up a basic letter - it will be a massive pain in
    the arse when you come to format reports and dissertations. And all the PCs
    at Uni are likely to run word. And you'll have to learn word anyway when
    you're at work...
