OT Renault Engine change

Wayyyyy off topic but someone here might know.

I have a X reg 1400cc Megane with excellent engine, car fucked
but engine great, I have a chance to get a shake your arse new shape
megane also with 1400cc engine but in this instance engine is fucked,
car good, there both 16v types, could I change them straight over?

Long shot question here I know but the knowledge of you lot here
amazes me almost every day.

What he said. those 1.4's are gutless. I was well happy to be shot of
my Megane.

Horrible POS. Nicer than say an Escort/Astra (or whatever they're
called now ?) or similar but they do need a decent engine in.

I was given a Clio as a hire car from Verona. This was supposed to be a
1.6. **** me what a gutless pile of shit. Took lean burn to extremes. The
1.1 litre Fiat Panda, I had earlier in the year in Naples, was much more
sprightly.
