A 64 year old I know is being made redundant. He has been in the job three
full years. The company has no redundancy scheme of its own. What if any
"Goverment" redundancy payment will he be entitled to?

    TIA ... Tullyhubbert

Well, probably four & a half weeks pay but it reduces over 64 by one twelfth
per month of age after your 64th birthday so it depends.

    See:

    http://www.dti.gov.uk/er/redundancy/insolvency-pl718c.htm

BUT remember there are other entitlements due like paid notice and pay in
lieu of any period in which statutory consultation was required but not
implemented. In this guy's case they could be worth as much again as the
redundancy itself. If he's in a Union he should talk to them. If he's not
he should contact Citizens Advice Bureau - For some things time matters so
he needs to get on wiv it fairly swiftly.
