Anyone recommend some free software to record something playing from a
soundcard to mp3? I want to record bbc listen again programs to mp3.

    Cheers

I thought the BBC were starting to provide their Listen Again stuff in
    mp3 format?

Anyway, if they're not, try looking for a copy of "Streambox VCR Suite"
    - you just point it at the stream's URL, and it records the whole thing
to your hard disk in a reasonably intelligent manner, without you having
to do anything nasty like recording off your soundcard.

I use realcap on linux, which is a short script which streams the sound
through a couple of programs (vox being one of them I think) which then
    converts to mp3 or ogg.

Not sure of a windows alternative for this.

Check the software that came with your sound card if it's a separate
PCI card like my Creative. It has a sound recorder that has an option
of,"Mixed-mode" recording which is what it's called. This will let you
record anything going through the sound card to be recorded as a .wav
file which you can then easily convert to an .mp3.

    If not then,
