    I live in a house.
It used to be two houses.
It has a myriad coax sockets around the place.
Only bloody one seems to actually be connected to an aerial.
Digital TV works fine on that socket.
I've explored both roof spaces, and peered at the walls outside, I can't
find a mast-head splitty thing, or even the main feed in a place where I
can split it and run things back to the existing sockets.
I can't manage to trace the buggers backwards to find out where they think
    they go.
The house is also satellited up, so that's a bunch of other unused cabling.

I seem to have two options:
Get a man in (how dull)
Get a retransmitting device to re-radiate radio-frequency goodness
    throughout my house.
Some of you have houses, what would you do and how much would it cost?
I don't really know what I'm googling for. Help.

How many TVs do you have? If it's only two, then an AV Sender might
    work.

    *arrgh*

my previously subsumed cooker-checking-style OCD seems to have re-
manifested as a semi-irrational desire to buy LCD flatscreens. I've
just bought another 32" LCD, to go along with the 32" and 42" (and the
little kitchen 8") sets I already have. I'm not even going to start
    counting the monitors.

If the wires that connect to the other sockets really are untraceable
then the best alternative is to get someone in to install a distribution
amp (probably in your loft) and then run wires around the outside of the
house to wherever you want TV.

There's all kinds of crazy bodge jobs that electricians tend to do
(because they don't understand RF) such as connecting all the coax
sockets together in a ring or twisting all the ends together somewhere
and hiding it (this could be under insulation in your loft or something
    ridiculous like that).

Could I also point you in the direction of the newsgroup
uk.tech.digital-tv? It's full of people who seem to enjoy solving
problems like this: they might also be able to recommend someone
    reputable in your area.

If digital works fine on the current aerial (and you can receive all of
the channels) then I would resist having it changed. A "wideband" aerial
is expensively pointless in many areas although most aerial riggers will
try and flog you one on the basis that it makes them more profit...

the 42" is the main TV, on which we watch mostly movies (and all the
    shit cooking shows Angie likes).

The 2 x 32" sets are both dedicated for gaming, one for the XBOX 360
and one for the Wii respectively.

The little kitchen one is usually on in the background when I'm
cooking, either BBCNews24 or playing a CD.

There's another 25" CRT TV in the older kid's room. I don't want to
know what he watches on it (other than his PS3).

god yes, before that even - there won't be a TV in our bedroom at any
    point.

I can understand the flatscreen fetish, but you seem to have it bad. I
only use one, and don't really get time in any other room to need
another. If I'm cooking then R4 goes on, otherwise it's all on the
    monitor.

sure, except we have 4 semi-sentient tv-watcher/game players in this
house. 2 tellys is not nearly enough.
