Surveillance cameras and swipe card systems. That's how they check on
    me.

Reported in uk.sci.weather too. Seems the move hasn't helped the whole
    of the UK.

Well, it's cheaper for the people who run the thing, so it's therefore
better. The level of service, in keeping with everything else in this
    country, is completely irrelevant.

  8. I expect the old Tx site will be sold off for development, netting a few
    million.

I bought an R/C clock recently, which gets its time signal from
Frankfurt - a bit of fiddling and it shows proper UK/Ireland time now,
but the days of the week are shown as abbreviations of German - now it's
    DI day.

  9. The Aldi one? I bought one of the large-digit ones so I could read
it easily without my glasses, but the EMF from the 'puters annoys it so I
have to put it on the other side of the room, where I need my glasses to
    read it...

My watch switches between "Rugby" and FFaM when I go back and forth
to CERN, but unfortunately I have to do the switching myself (by changing
    time-zones).

  12. Casio waveceptor -- it's a few years old now, so the specific model
is probably superseded. There are a number of variants now:

Quite nice. I'd like to see that bonded with the Sieko/Citizen kinetic
drives to provide the accuracy without the need for batteries.

I'm a Seiko automatic man myself. But they don't make them anymore so
the three I have had better last :(

  14. I am currently using a Motorola gentleman's pocket watch. Dead good it
is, comes with a built in phone and a camera and all sorts of shit.

I'm a vintage watch man myself too - prefer Omega Seamasters, but
currently wearing a Seiko from the '70's. Tchibo have an attractive
s/s radio watch for £29 currently. Saw lots of them in a local shop
today, but can't find them on their website. Normal display plus a
small lcd at 6 o'clock position showing day/date and/or seconds.
Jules Jurgensen used to make decent radio watches, or so I'm told.

It's all a question of style, and I'm afraid motorola pocket watches
    don't go with evening wear!

    S'wot I've got.

You won't find 'em on the website, 'cos they were in the Christmas Gifts
    range @ £34.

Currently in the Spring sale in the stores only.

    Good, it is.

That is why one gives the Motorola Pocket Watch to the good lady to
    store in her handbag.
