Anyone else had a problem with their radio-controlled clock since they
moved the transmitter from Rugby to somewhere upt'North?

Mine now shows consisently four hours behind when in its normal
position in the kitchen on the East side of the house but corrects
itself when moved to the hallway on South side of the house.

    Options?

    1) Reposition the clock permanently to the hallway.

    2) Find a way of stopping it synching and use it as a normal clock.

    3) Move the kitchen into the hallway - it is a kitchen clock after all
and looks out of place in the hallway.

    Er, No!
Could your kitchen be in a different time zone perhaps?

  5. 4) Launch a reflector into space, positioned about 10 light hours
distant and read the radio signal from that.

Measure distance between kitchen and hallway, then take the house down
and rebuild it that same distance away from it's original position.
Easy, it's done everyday in different parts of the world...

  10. We don't have a radio controlled clock, but our clock radio teasmaid still
appears to be functioning correctly today.

Our clock stopped today but after I wound and restarted it seems to be
keeping good time - still does the odd random chime occasionally.

So the move of radio transmitter appears not to have affected it.

  14. Clocks are for poor people who need them so that can be at the factory
in time to suit the needs of their bosses.

    4. You might try changing the wall it hangs upon, so that the antenna
    faces towards Cumbria.

My radio clock works perfectly here in Wales - unlike my radio which has to
hang on its mains lead with the aerial pointing out over the sink. I do wish
the clock could receive radio 4.

    Yer radio's fucked. Analogue's fine here - it's the digital signal that's
marginal. Preseli transmitter in the throes of an upgrade. Ferryside is a

Funny you should say that, yes

the one in the lounge has been a couple of hours ahead three times in
the past month, the alarm clock 4 hours behind twice

Anthorn, former RNAS Nuthatch, Cumbria, otherwise mainly used as a VLF
transmitting station for RN submarine communications. Funnily enough
the only one I encounter regularly works fine, although it is only
about 15 miles from the new transmitter.
