kernel: Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason a1 on CPU 0
kernel: You have some hardware problem, likely on the PCI bus.
kernel: Dazed and confused, but trying to continue

    Its a Dell Poweredge 1800.

I would suspect memory. Any other ideas?

Where would one go about getting some memory.
2 x 2 gig PC 3200 400mhz Dual Channel ECC would be the requirements.

could be anything if it's PCI related. More likely your graphics card,
    than memory.
If you do need memory, then Crucial, every time.

Crucial report the wrong memory from the memory finder Manafacturer,
    Model, drop down boxes.

However for the correct memory. They want £176 sheets not inc vat plus
£12 notes for Shipping to Turkey plus whatever Tax may land at customs.

    OK! Lets do it!

Go through the ordering process only to find my address doesn't fit in
the available boxes. The require a postcode which I don't have. I could
put in some kind of fantasy postcode but I'm sure they would hold that
against me when it didn't get delivered.

In short the computer says no.

  8. <Dell related>

My old Dimension 3100 died last week, after a bit of fiddling I worked
out it was the mobo or the PSU. I thought the PSU would be cheap enough,
but no, Dell not only do their own mobo but also their own PSU.
Naturally it's 50 quid at least and out of stock everywhere. Ebay came
up trumps, 15 quid later everything working again.

Kingston always used to be overpriced. Maybe they're not so any more,
but I tend to use Crucial out of a sort of "brand inertia" as they've
    just always been 100% dependable.
