Is there a compelling reason why you don't get a blog?

A customer sent us two machines to install our latest software on.

Lovely machines, huge 2U rack mounts, 2 x Core 2 Extreme QX9770 (quad
cores), 2 x NVidia GeForce GTX 260s in SLI, 4GB RAM, liquid cooling on
the CPUs, the northbridge and both GFX cards.

Pity our new software only uses three threads of execution so 5 out of
the 8 cores will be really bored, and happily runs on an 86xx series
NVidia chipset so nearly all the GFX procesing power will be idle :)

One is almost tempted to do a little swapping of hardware... :)

  4. Richard, if I tell you which street corner, can you arrange for
them to "fall off the back of a lorry"?

No? Oh, well, it got me a used HV neon-tube transformer for an
experiment once. You meet such a mix of people in motorcycle clubs...

Can't you port the app over to Cuda so the processors do fek all, and
the GPU's do all the work ?

If we could create another 12 months from nothing, yes!

Actually the customers would be pretty pissed if we did, part of the
spec is an open API so the customers can develop their own modules so
they can keep their proprietry mathematics completely in house that they
    create.

    Heh :)

I did initially think "Oooh! Want!" cause they're just so damn well
made, but then thought that the jet engine noise all the time, and
nothing I do would even begin to use all their power.

(well, OK, the work I do, stuff would compile in 15 seconds rather than
    60, but so what?)
So thats how your current work project started!
