We had a thread about independent shops recently. Some people, including
me, said that they didn't mind paying a bit extra to get decent service.

Internet based retailers are accusing wholesalers of "double pricing" as
they supply goods to High St retailers at favourable prices.

"Sony has denied penalising internet shopping sites and insists it is only
rewarding stores that can showcase its wares"

Have the Interactive Media in Retailing Group got a case or should they
    STFU?

Given Sony's recent track record I'm inclined to believe the exact opposite
    of what they claim.

I don't understand it myself. If the manufacturer can sell to the retailer
at a price where they still make a profit - what say do they then have in
the price the retailer sells it to the public?

I think most Sony stuff is vastly over rated anyway and I certainly won't be
buying any of their stuff as they seem intent on pissing off their
    customers.

Yesterday, I had an email from Sony to say that "the PS2[1] your son bought
earlier this year may set your house on fire".

[1] the power supply to be more specific

The recall has been going on for a while now. Pretty sure I swapped
mine sometime over a month ago.

The press release went out in Sept. according to google. It's taken them
this long to send out an email despite being a registered customer.

I don't buy newspapers & magazines so missed any adverts they might have
    placed.

I haven't got an email at all, but then again I've already done mine.
Neither do I, but it was pretty hard to miss it. No matter what they
    do someone will get through.
