My picture ended up in glorious colour.

I assume the first picture is a negative?

It only appears coloured as long as you don't move your eyes. So if
you look anywhere else on the ecreen the colour disappears. The
blueness of the sky is a larger area, so slight eye movements don't
    upset it so easily.
    My assumption too.

That macular degeneration's a right ****, isn't it. Still, at your age,
    it's only to be expected.

It did for me when I focused any anything else except the dot. Even after I
looked at other parts of the pic, which appeared in black and white, when I
looked back at the dot, the picture went to colour again.

I've just been playing about with just how far you need to move your
eyes before it goes black and white. I'm off to a dark room to recover
    from my headache now.

Did you have to concentrate on your mouse pointer and not move your eyes?
