    Hi,

What is the tool of choice for splitting MP3 files at the mo. I have an
album that is one big FO file. [1]

Ideally something that can detect the quiet bits between songs and
auto-split the file into the right chunks for that seperate songs.

I *have* saerched but can only find splitters that you have to manually
    enter the splits in.

    help?

[1] Of non- copyright music obviously!

I used Goldwave when I last had to do this. It was on a WAV though,
not an mp3, but it loads mp3s so will probably do the trick.

It costs money but is free for trial use which was enough for me to do
    one album.

You'll find you'll want to do the splitting manually as the auto ones
aren't very good. Sometime they think quiet parts in songs are the
gap and you get songs split in two.

Nero 6 has a wav editor, i think it loads mp3s. But again you'll need to
    manually split it.

Although a recorder, Polderbits does a very good job of automatically
splitting tracks. There is the ability to easily manually adjust its
    selections.

It might not be what the OP was after though.
