I usually save the tracks as wav files and use LAME to create mp3s
as it is very tunable. Current options are "lame -h -v -b 128"

    Get it at http://www.mp3dev.org

With the clanging of bedpans, Martin
I like the fact that you can have higher bitrates on the computer and
then when you transfer to the mp3 player, it will re-encode them down to
whatever bitrate you set (though this does take a bit of time).

Why would you be worried about fine tuning the encoding when you're only
saving them as crappy 128kbit files?

CDex, but I prefer itunes - just make sure it's configured in the prefs
to rip to mp3. It's great with it's auto insert/rip/eject

Variable bit rate. Equivalent to 192k constant bit rate.
Why would a motorcyclist need more?
Anyway I picked some options once, they have been in a batch file
    and untouched since.

If i knew how this fucking thing worked i would be a happy man, i dont and
this MPMAN thing is going to get hit with a big hammer and binned.

Imagine this, i spend time converting two cd's to mp3 format, so the cddex
applications says, si i goes and copies both folders to this player, it only
sees and plays the first lot, wont look at any other folders on there.
    Sodding stuff.

Daughters iPod has a screen you can navigate to the titles of the albums,
    that
i understand, this fucking this, is crap.

  20. WMP's the easy part.

To set it up, from the Tools menu select Options, then Rip Music. Set
the format to MP3, turn off all the copy protection nonsense. You
might want to customise filenames and stuff as well.

To do the rip, pick CDs and Devices / Rip Audio CD from the File menu
    and do the do.

As to loading up the MP3 player, christ knows...
