OT Matchbox cages and things.

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by steve auvache, Sep 13, 2007.

  1. Today I was asked if I knew anybody who collected that sort of stuff by
a bloke who used to work for them. He reeled off a gert long list which
included references to boxed mint limited editions and full sets of
things made from pewter. He wants to out it, for a price obviously but
to a genuine enthusiast rather than as an investment opportunity to a
"fine art collector". Why he thought anybody in ukrm would fit that
description I cannot for the life of me imagine. Anybody interested?

steve auvache () gurgled happily, sounding much like
    they were saying :
The prices for that sort of thing can range from absolutely unbelievable to
three quarters of sod all, depending on factors beyond the ken of mere
    mortals.

A neighbour of mine does some collecting, buys through a specialist online
auctioneer - vectis.co.uk. It'd be worth your mate talking to them, I
    reckon.

I don't know why, but the use of "cage" instead of "car" really irks me.

Is that noun or a verb?

  13. It's mostly seen in the excuse section of a post:

"Went down to <some do or other> to meet Fred (in the cage because me
mum had the bike in bits on the kitchen table)..."
