Bit of both really, it appears to be stuck in about 1972.

My cousins are all staunch card carrying Nationalists. One of them even
works for the Nationalist TV station

I've ridden the bike in Northern Italy where things are pretty manic. I had
a hired Fiat Panda when down south which seemed to have Tardis like
properties as I'm sure the exterior dimensions were smaller than they
    appeared from inside.

Indeed. Driving a Panda out of Naples airport straight in to the thick
of it was a memorable experience. Got the hang of the obligatory tyre
squealing by the end of the week though.

My closest shave was with a municipal truck on the Amalfi coast road, east
of Amalfi town where it gets a bit narrow. Part of that road is named Via
    Nastro Azzurro...

Or like Italian telly most nights.

Looks like the game show never really went out of fashion there...
which seems to mostly entail grey haired old men leering over scantily
    clad burds...

Last week, as on every May 1st, Waldighoffen staged it's bike baptism
and rally day. The second part just means there's hundreds of bikes
riding past all day, but the first is, well, yes, they take their
bikes to a church and get them blessed.

    Makes me feel quite ill.

Although a quick google fails to find any mention of the blessing but,
so maybe they've dropped the idea this year. Loadsa bikes, mind.

  13. And what is wrong with this I ask, except that I don't get prizes for
    doing it when off camera?

    Why ?

Its quite simple - they know where they think they want to go and just
    aim for it
... even when there is 6" of snow on the ground, which makes life
interesting. Italians don't do snow very well

I've been practicing my entire life to be a Dirty Old Man, and I've
    finally gotten good at it.
