Anyway, apparantly such "banter" is OK as long as the recipient
doesn't actually take offence, and I'm afraid I kinda made the
assumption that you wouldn't...

 

I'm only guessing here, but I suspect that the scheme in question wouldn't
use Darsy's behaviour as a benchmark.

 

True, but if it's clear they've got a good case they should be
encouraged to follow it through.

My view is that a civil claim isn't worth pushing, that's just the ugly
world of compensation culture, not something I agree with at all or
something that will really teach someone like him a lesson.. But, by
the same token I'd refuse to let go of the issue of a violent assault in
terms of criminal proceedings, if the police uhmm and ahh I'd be taking
it to someone senior, and making sure it got the attention it deserves.

The bloke's committed a criminal assault and if he's done so once he'll
probably do so again, maybe next time to someone in a situation where
they can't defend them self, maybe another mother, or a child, or
someone less strong willed than yourself.

I don't think there are many people here that would refute attacking a
woman, with her children, outside a school, is pretty fucking low. He
deserves a severe (but legal) punishment for doing so, not least because
if he ever does anything like that again he'll have a history of it, and
won't get treated with lenience.

That's not about doing it for personal gain, but making sure that nobody
else has to suffer the trauma you've just had to go through.

Only you know what's right for yourself though, and that's the voice you
need to act on.

I agree, but the stated aims of the process are not its real aims, and
it will achieve those[1] well enough.

[1] it just needs to "be seen to be done" to help guard against future
litigation actions against the company.

 

I was thinking more along the lines that it would take more than the
allotted cash just to stop you swearing and treating the intern like a

I was fine (apart from the scratches and bruises) until I got to
school, then the shakes hit - I kept expecting him to appear.

The kids were brilliant again, coming over to check I was OK.
According to son, it's given the school something to gossip about, so
I've done my bit for the 'violence doesn't solve anything debate'.
