OT-ish: Pembrey

What's it like as a track?

Anything I should know about it?

Just booked a (car) trackday there for September.

Will be my first time out on a proper track - usually do airfields and
Llandow sprint circuit.

 

It'll rain and the hairpin at the end of the start/finish straight
will flood.

 

It's fuckin harsh on sidecar tyres.....

It's cold and barren and orrible when the fogs blowing in from the
sea, it's stupidly hot when its hot.

The clubhouse is excellent, spent many a night in there getting
lathered on the local brew.

It's a frickin long way in a clapped out diesel wagon that will do
50mph max when you're towing a sidecar.

Felinfoel Double Dragon? I remember that from when my brother lived between
Pembrey & Carmarthen. I can remember feelin' foul on a few mornings after.

 

It's only got one left hander (AFAIR).

That's the fella.....

It regularly turned the race wagon into *that* scene from Blazing
Saddles.

 

Which is fine if you remember it's a double apex one and actually
feels like it's two separate corners.

Unless he leaves a window open on his car...

 

Better rotate the tyres, then.... they're looking a bit worse for wear
on the offside from 2 days at Llandow.

But it appears I may float away, as the car is only 600kgs.

 

My MR2 G-Ltd is ready. 3 new brake calipers (owch) but otherwise sorted. So
it owes me some £1400 over 6 years so far inc. purchase. I'm not sure what
to do with it now. Black with black 17" Wolfrace wheels. Sell or track day
toy....

This is my thought. Car trailers are feckin huge though.

Yeah but I don't want the fuggin hassle of insuring, and keeping MOT/TAX on
