Any one got any knowledge of Madrid airport ? I'm trying to locate the
cargo area before we get there and the shipper is being an arse (no
surprise there since he now has our money and our bikes).

Google doesn't help, nor do the airport maps.

Based on what you can see on Google Earth, the south west corner looks
most likely, along Av Central. Lots of warehouses & trucks there,
including some on the edge of the airfield.

Bad form but http://tinyurl.com/5w3w39u is a streetview link for that
very area, & if you waggle your mouse it should show a bus stop called
'Centro de Carga'. I don't speak dago, but that sounds like a pretty
good candidate for a cargo area.

I think Krusty has it right.

BTW, if you need any help, give me a shout. I've got friends in the
area for starters and I'm quite often up that way.

Bad form, etc, but what's the name of the shipping Co?

The carrier is British Airway, which is good, except they don't appear to
deal with "the general public" any more which is bad. And they are shut
on Saturday (which I don't see as an issue as I have the AWB).

The Shipping Co is NaviCon S.A (Buenos Aires)

I may take you up on friends in the area if my (still) poor Spanish hits
    problems.

    901) so a tad slow.

Reading the sign on the road.... no BA cargo bay, looks like it will be a
"partner" depot..... aren't BA and Iberia merging ?

(saw you'd asked on the horizonsunlimited forum too. :)

    Well NaviCon has offices here:

    C/ Musgo 3 Bajo
    28023 Madrid
    SPAIN

You could always start with them there, if BA won't receive you
    directly.

If you stick "Carga Aerea Madrid Barajas" into google maps, you'll see
that they're all located in roughly the same area, which I believe, is
    where BA cargo are.

Cool, ta, that is good to know, I have obviously lost my European google
mojo as I had not thought to look for them in Madrid. [1]
That is the hope, we will employ the tactic of walk into the nearest and
ask where BA are hiding :) It worked in Toronto :).

[1] I'm sure people will wonder why we have not got this info, believe
me , we have tried, but there are only s many times you want to go
between the 1st and 7th floors before you realise that no one knows the
answer or wants to admit they don't know.

But when we left it all seemed orgainised that the bikes would arrive in
    Spain Friday.

Then we checked the AWB number and found it would be Saturday before they
left Heathrow (yes the bikes are going to the UK 1st).

    Nice. Logical.

At least you get a nice ride back home, stopping in Paris for a cuppa.

A visit to the Dago group can find useful local help, mind.

If you can find a direct cargo flight from BA to Madrid, be my guest.

Not a lot of options on passenger flights (1).

  20. No, what I meant was, how fucking mental is that - that your bikes pass
through the UK in transit - if all you want to do is come back to the
    UK, anyway.
