I went into CPW at the weekend.
    Sim free/PAYG
Whizzy new Samsung B3410. Slide QWERTY and touchscreen. £90.
Whizzy new Nokia N900. Slide QWERTY and touchscreen. £499 FFS

Go figure. WTF would anyone pay the cost of a decent lappy for a little
phone with a 12 month life.

Yes. Depends on the carrier, though.
You can. That's what I've got.

If I wanted to do that I would buy a dedicated hiking GPS or a phone with GPS
    that's suitable for doing that.

    As I don't, I didn't.
With 32GB internal memory I don't need an external memory card.
I've honestly never seen the need. I've also got a Blackberry and that is
multitasking. Woo. It's a phone that sits in my pocket, why do I want it to
run 15 different things at once when I'm not using it and suck the life out
    of the battery?

It does multi task anyway, all the core apps multitask, the stuff that isn't
*allowed* to multitask are the store apps, but they can register for push
notifications (when they can be made to wake up and do something IIRC), so
for all essential purposes, it can.
Did I say "the iPhone is the best phone for everyone"? No.
    Yes. I. Did.

    You are confused aren't you?

    Done.

I might make that the default setting.

I recall changing it a while ago for the same reasons, obviously a uninstall
/ reinstall has put it back to the default.
If I manage to get some sleep tonight I hope I wil HAND tomorrow :)

In cases like this is reverts to their email address, so all is well, well,
apart from those poor saps that can't afford a name once they've bought an
    email address.

Well, the N900 is a nicely specced phone. Price wise, it's an early
adopters tax - I'm waiting a year or so before considering one.

You can get them free if you sign your life away, mind.

  12. Along the same lines for you Iphoners, this is off my Facebook wall
    from a friend here:
My IPhone froze and now it seems the only way to get my phone working
again is to restore it through ITunes and in the process it will
delete more than 1000 photos I took overseas. It seems this is the
only way unless somehow you can "jailbreak" the phone and void any
legal warranty. I'm trying to find something to save the data by any
    means. Help anyone?

As I don't own an IPhone, anyone here know if there's a way around
that? Thought I'd asked in here as it's 1am in OZ and everbody over
    here is asleep.

    Did he reboot the phone?

  14. Well I'm assuming he tried. I pointed him to this thread as I recalled
someone mentioning a colleague in a meeting who wasn't aware how to
reboot them and was waiting for the battery to go flat. Not being an
IPhone owner I have no idea how you do that.

He has since posted that he gave upp and tried a restore through
ITunes and that wouldn't work either.

Coincidentally I did an experiment with my E71 this week. I'd got fed up
with how long my phone was spending attached to the wall getting topped
up that I thought I'd find out how long a charge actually lasted in
    normal use.

7 hours from fully charged to flat.

I swore, then ordered up a new battery to replace the clearly shagged
    original.

I then read one of those "how to make your battery last longer" articles
and thought I'd give it a try. Turned off 3G, turned off wifi scanning,
turned off Bluetooth, set data to when needed not when available and
checked for email etc manually rather than automatically.

Then I used the phone as normal, but when I needed 3G or Bluetooth etc I
turned them on and used them then turned them off again.

This time I went from full charge to power off in 82 hours.

The new battery is still in the packet.

My E71 is never connected to WiFi, so doesn't scan, Bluetooth is on very
occasionally in the car, Data - when needed.
I charge it twice a week at most.

  17. Home and on/off button for 10 seconds will reboot it. After that he can try a
    jailbreak with blackra1n.
