A quick survey of battery life.

What type of iPhone do you have? (2G, 3G, 3GS)
    Battery life?
    Do you use MMS?

Reason why is the battery life I'm usually getting is about 4.75 days. (I
guesstimate just over 5 days to flat but a flat phone isn't much use to me
    during the daytime :)

*If* I (try) to send an MMS [1] the battery life from then on is less than 2
    days.

I need to do a hard reset to get it back to normal. (press power and home
buttons until the phone turns itself off and resets - you don't loose any
    data doing this)

[1] I say try because MMS's never seem to send. I think I've sent one
successfully and about 10 have failed.

It looks like something is getting stuck, possibly because it's failed to
send the MMS, and from then on carries on trying to send it and eating the
    battery.

I haven't bothered to stick the phone next to the computer speakers to see if
it's talking to the base station all the time.

  2. No.

new iP.OS updated yesterday, one of the fixes was for situations where
    battery indicator was inaccurate.

Mine lasts for fucking ages, they are shit & I don't have one.

My HTC is even shitter & lasts about a nanosecond.

Any touchscreen/web type phone is worse than getting fucked by a rather
large penised man, in the arse. Twice.

    An hour.

    3G, Nokia E75
Depends on usage. I use my phone a lot for calls during the course of a
working day and send a shitload of sms. I have managed to scrape two
full days use out of it before it went totally flat. I also managed to
get four days out of it when I was in hospital, mainly because I wasn't
using it to make many calls, but did send a fair few sms.
    Rarely

    Indeed.

Most people use a webcam for that 'sort of thing' these days.

Should have bought a mobile phone where you can at least change the
    battery.
Iphone is for Fashion victims, can't see why else it's so popular.

  10. Yeah - exactly the reason I didn't buy an Iphone on the last change.
This HTC is just about dying but I'm buggered if I am buying a phone
that I can't carry a spare battery with me. Have spare battery for
netbook, phone, older backup phone, camera, plus a bunch of
rechargeable batteries in a mic case in my backpack that will fire up
my torches, guitar tuners, DIs, etc. I like my electrons and do not
want them running out on me at inconvenient times.

Which one, Nige? My Diamond 2 will happily go a couple of days.
You don't half talk some crap at times.

<looks at battery 'sleeve' for iPhone that slips on and makes it around
the same size as your average HTC type WinMobile device, but gives a
good few days of battery life>

  13. My TytnII will only go a day or so. I have 3 normal batteries for it
plus one of the bulkier longer lasting ones for when I want to run it
in GPS mode. Regardless of battery life, I still want to be change to
a spare battery I get caught out. IPhone don't allow that. Waiting for
    Nexus.

You mean you add a sleeve, and it makes the iPhone *Smaller*? *impressed* ;)

About 2 days max, depending on usage. Use the apps a lot and it
decreases considerably. That's with 3G turned off and Wifi on most of
    the time, though.
    Nope.

My iPhone goes for ages. My Dext too (although that's quite new atm).

I have a battery pack that I slot into the iPhone in case of emergencies
which works quite well. I've only used it once or twice though.

Phones are consumer items today. A decent battery will live _up_ _to_
four years but will probably die at around 18 months (on continuous
usage). I won't have my iPhone at 18 months but will have the next
generation of funky phone (even if it's an updated iPhone, probably).
