Not true with many bottled real ales. I've got a dwindling stock of
such items that various good folks have brought over for me and have
been rationing. Some of them (particularly some year past best
Speckled Hen, IIRC) have now thrown a bit of a sediment and have to be
opened and poured with great care. They also start to taste not so
good, but are still quite drinkable.

Or were, as I think I've drunk all the affected stock now (hic!).

I haven't a clue how much booze I have in the house.

  4. In some cases, it's not just them being conservative - they have no
idea, and have to make it up. A mate of mine who worked in a food
factory had the rather odd task one month of trying to find packets of
Smash that were more than 10 years old to see if the stuff was
    actually still OK to eat.

I don't think he found any tough, which was a shame.

I don't like Leffe. I don't like olives either, and I'm not keen on
anchovies. Wanna take issue with that too?

  7. I remember the good old days when the answer was usually 'none' except
when we'd just been to the offie.

Now we seem to have shedloads...so I guess it always used to be me
    drinking it... Ho hum!

Jolly decent of you, Will. I'd prefer the Leffe, actually, but Stella's
alright. And I'm not a big fan of cider, but if I make sure it's nice
and cold it should be drinkable.

    Cheers.

Ah, but my service would arrange for their disposal in a much more
environmentally-friendly manner than just having them chucked into the
nearest landfill, which is what would happen if you just bunged the
    stuff in the bin.
Less of your cheek, if you don't mind.

  10. I'll only take issue with the Leffe (actually, replace "take issue"
with "drink"). Anchoives and olives are both pointless foods, and
a waste of good pizza.[1] Why argue/insult someone you agree with?

[1] are they actually used in anything else?

yes. I like both. I eat them on their own, as tapas dishes. Or stick
them in various types of pasta dish.

Also go very well in salads, particularly Nicoise.

    [anchovies and olives]
oh, sure yes. As Ace says, great in salads too. (pitted) Olives not a
    bad idea on a chicken/mushroom/chilli BBQ shish-kebab.

    You'll get stuck like that.

Mmm, sounds good, as long as it comes with anchovies too.
