ESRC bid that got to the second round is 'a good piece of research,
needs to be done' but they don't have the money to fund it. Which is a
sod as it was a joint bid with Hong Kong and I've never been. So in a
fortnight I'm off to the UKRM slackers table unless any of the other
bids come through. There's still finishing my section of at least one
book and various journal articles for the joint US/UK project to be
done but that's not for pay but prestige.

Very weird coming out of academia and back into the real world, still
it means I can job hunt anywhere in the country and have a think about
what I'd really enjoy.

Good news is that if I wear my 14 hole doc-a-likes they give enough
support to the leg and ankle to drive my car 120 miles today with just
a bit of pain as an after effect. Hmmm gin, limoncello or painkillers
this afternoon?
