OT I swore I'd never do this - mobile phone post

I've been with vodafone (which should have a ph damn it) for years.
I've never taken my phone upgrades, they've just taken a sum off the
bill. I've paid my usually £25 a month bill on time (with free minutes
it rarely goes over this amount) and generally been a model customer.

Who is now peeved. It's upgrade time and as I know my phone usage
pattern has drastically changed over the last few weeks I'thought I'd
    do my homework.

I don't particularly care which make or model of phone I get - they'll
all have functions I never use. I like my razr but the shit battery
    life has got too annoying.

I want unlimited landline calls (bloody luddites with no mobile
phones) and to keep my stop the clock option on the rest of my free
    minutes. They've said no.

So while I wait up to 72 hours for a manager to call me back, who
should I take my business to and what phone should I get.

There are companies offering free nintendo wiis or ipods as an
incentive, however the kids have them so if I ever felt a need to use
    one I'd borrow theirs.

I am completely clueless in this area, use simple words, ta.

  2. Will you be using your mobile for unlimited landline calls? You can
still keep stop the clock on PAYG and get an online tariff for 1000
minutes or something stupid for about 10 quid a month. Will you even be
    using pay-as-you-go?

That's what I want to do yes.
    I'm on monthly contract.
I've used 480 minutes from 1st up to the 10th which is as far as their
    computer shows.
    See above.
See when faced with pages full of options I just go 'aaarrrggghh' and
    get confused.
Do any of those have the unlimited land line though? That's the
    essential requirement.

Unlimited during peak or off-peak hours?

Looking at it from a slightly different angle, why don't you get the
best deal you can for the unlimited landline calls on a contract phone
and then buy a vodafone payg sim card to use for calls where stop the
    clock is applicable?

I use a vodafone payg sim and usually put about £20 on it every 3
months, I only use it for evening calls and use my company phone in
    the daytime.

  6. No idea, haven't looked. Sounds like you need a Skype phone.

    I'm surprised. IIRC I get 250 texts, 200 or 250 minutes and STC for £15 a
month on a no upgrade basis. OTOH I occasionally rack up a £60 bill, so
perhaps I'm profitable enough for them to justify the good deal on the
    contract.

Did you speak to the cancellation team or the normal bods? IME the way to
get a decent deal is go straight to cancellations, as they actually have the
power to offer you a decent deal.

This is possibly a solution, thanks. Basically it isn't really a
problem I've just decided to be awkward about it.
You and Adie are past the first flush of love though and don't need
    hours on the phone :)

    So was I.
    But not the landlines?
    I've had a shit contract 150 mins 100 texts for £25 for 18 months.
I've rarely gone over but I still think they've had their profit from
    me.
Good point. I just went to the upgrade team. I'll ring cancellations
    tomorrow and have a whinge.

    snip how to guide.
Incredibly helpful thanks. I just hate websites that expect you to be
a teenager that knows about mobile phones, having the search options
    set out is useful thanks.

    Still want landlines though :)

Snip complicated bit - I'll have a look when I;m sober providing I
don't have to deal with death in the meantime. Oh ****, I've got to
    the maudlin gin stage.
I'm trying to distract myself - you lot need to post more.

I'd not heard of free landline calls until I read your post. TBH it's rarely
been an issue for me. Every time I've clocked up big bills, it's been when
I've rung mates on mobiles during the daytime for a long while. Landlines
are included in the STC deal for me.
