There speaks a man with a boring house. My house has 3 rooms plus
bathroom on the semi-basement floor, 2 on the ground floor 2 on the
first floor and 1 plus a bathroom on the top floor. The indeterminism
comes with the ground floor. These 2 rooms are meant to be living room
and dining room, with the servants quarters below. We use them as
study and music room. That would leave three bedrooms. However, we
thought, when trying to sell, that the back one of these rooms would
make a sensible bedroom, so we said it was 4 bedrooms. But you could
have both as bedrooms; it would just be a bit odd to pass bedroom
doors on your way in from the front door down to the living area. It's
what estate agents call 'flexible accomodation', innit?

There once was a young man from Bexhill
Whose penis was sharp as a pencil
It went straight through an actress
    Six inches of mattress
    And buggered the bedroom utensil.

Central / Middle. I think Bucks technically counts as Home Counties
but Beds is out in the sticks. Look at a map and try and make sense
    of that.

This is a wise course, if I may say so. I've got almost no expenses,
having housing and transport supplied, and everything here is v.
cheap. My tenants cover my mortgage and a bit. I don't really know
what to do with my money.

Why not clear all your debts (including mortgage) so that next time the
market dries up you can live on virtually no income?

That is what I'm doing. But it's so easy to say: "I'm chucking
xxxxukp at the mortgage this month, **** it - I'll buy a jetski next
    month".

Out of interest, how easy is it to rent out your house (I assume fully
furnished) for a set period, say 12 months? Seems you've done so a
couple of times now so it can't be too tricky.

I don't want to sell this place, but have a feeling it may be sensible
to spend a year making some cash whilst the market is good and I've got
    nothing tying me down.

Norway is a great place to work, I found the people friendly and there
isn't really a language barrier in any of the scandanavian countries.
The winters are a real killer though, not in a the same way as the
drudgery of sleet and snow here, more in the way of "**** this hurts, I
    need to get inside, sharpish."

Easy. Phone estate agent. They come and look, knock up an ad, and
stick it in the paper. They do *everything* - vetting applicants,
showing them round, inventory, informing utilities, council tax, etc.
They even stump up the dough if the tenants default on the rent.
    Recommended.

I don't wear a suit to work. Even so, I got measured for a full
bespoke suit on Wednesday last. First fitting is next Friday, with
delivery two days later. Total cost: 120ukp.
    Mmm. Well, all the best.

Dingly ding - which is why we couldn't raise an offer of more than
230,000 for it. But it's in one of the better roads (for small values
of better), even if it is opposite a drug dealer (cannabis only).
No they wouldn't. The one next door is, and he gets about that. The
council in their wisdom, however, have decided that no more such
conversions will be allowed. I guess it could be split easily into 2 -
a 1 bed garden flat and a three bed maisonette. Dunno what that would
    get.
