If you're not interested in me read no further :)

If you look at the headers of the post, you can see that I'm using a
different email address than usual. This is because Hotmail in all their
wisdom have decided to close the account. This happened without any warning
at all. They claim that I have sent objectional material (cue jokes). I
    didn't.

The irritating thing is that they will not tell me what was offensive or
where this claim comes from. I think it's someone on a newsgroup, or
possibly an off-chance that someone just wants this address.

    Anyone experienced something similar?

Yes, once, someone really liked my house address, he was from newcastle or
somewhere, and for some reason he liked the road i live in, although he kept
saying byker grove as opposed to viking grove. Anyway, yes he really wanted
    my address.
    My commisserations mate.....:)

Thanks, I think. I'm not sure if I can respect the opinion of a scooterista
    :)

It's just that this is a bit irritating, having no recourse. At least you
got the chance of shooting the (more) northern bastard..... :)

I dont know if it still happens (it sounds like it does), but Hotmail used
to close accounts almost immediately when there was an abuse report sent
in about the account, without bothering to check it out.
It was pointed out on another (advert) group that if someone was being a
'twat', then just report him to hotmail, and the account will be closed.
It's all down to 'you get what you pay for', normal ISPs would give you a
    warning before pulling the plug.

I now know..... but I can't imagine someone doing this. Apart from a few
choice words with burnt a few weeks ago, I have no beef with anyone AFAIK.
Still, it looks like this happened. I think I'm going to put my
conversations with the M$ bint online at some point. It's a shame that
they're cutting and pasting, but I will try and see if I can get her to be
    more 'personal'.

Anyone know someone at M$ a bit higher up? I love a fight..... Even if I
    know I'm going to lose.

Besides, I wasn't accusing you at all. The only one I had a few choice words
with was you and I can't imagine you grassing me up with M$..

Thanks. What adverts group would this be? I'd like some examples, maybe even
tp use in my conversations with the M$ person (have they also moved their
    support to India?).

It would be either uk.adverts.computer or the uk.p.c.ebay.
It was a long time ago, maybe a year, so it may be a long search, doing a
quick google group search brings up hundreds of similar complaints such as
yours, and none of them seem to get anywhere.

Hotmail tend to close any account where abuse has been alleged without
seeking any evidence or confirmation that any abuse has taken place. It is
possible that it is an automated process. There have even been cases of
people having their accounts closed when they have COMPLAINED about abuse
because their own Hotmail address appeared in the text of the complaint!
Hotmail will never reinstate the account once it is closed nor will they
allow access to any stored email on the account. Basically a Hotmail
account should be treated as a disposable item.
