I'm begining to obsess about the subject of this hand coloured
    photograph:
    http://www.sweller.co.uk/images/AslefDriverGM.jpg

I asked on u.r.railways but they're distracted by the engine not being
    the right colour.

The driver's cap badge is British Railways Southern Region (as is the
loco) dates it as forties or fifties as the engine is
    pre-nationalisation.

Has anyone a list of George Medal winners? Google hasn't.

I think the responses you recieved on uk.railway was pretty good. There were
very few comments about the loco being the wrong colour and the comments
that did mention this was only in respect of trying to date the picture.

So instead of making negative comments about the people who were trying to
help you maybe you should be grateful.

I agree with you on this one. Simon has a bad habit of totally
ignoring the more important things in life and it really does need
pointing out to him more often.

Only Simon would be more interested in a person than the fact that
someone had used the wrong colour on a wonderful piece of engineering
like the one in the photograph.

Do you mean piece of devastating slander:

"I asked on u.r.railways but they're distracted by the engine not being
    the right colour."

Christ tough guy, you're going to hate this newsgroup.

    Mungo "Two Sheds" Toadfoot says...
    It's imcomplete.

There's no listing for the people of Malta, who were awarded a George
Cross on 15th April 1942 in recognition of their continuing heroic
    struggle against enemy attack.
