OT : French market

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Paul Corfield, Dec 13, 2003.

  1. Really only for those within easy travelling of Ilford but there is a
French Market in the town centre this weekend. Quite a lot of stalls
flogging meat/ sausages, olives, preserves, cheese,
cider/calvados/perry, chocolates / sweets etc. On today (13/12) and
tomorrow (14/2). Quite a lot of stuff from Normandy.

    They were doing good business.

There's one that runs up here about once a month, I think it's becoming
quite a common thing around the UK.

Probably not, but I imagine they have a large Yamaha stand, twinkling
in the lights, resplendent with every model of imaginary R1, draped
with supermodels offering free blowjobs, champagne, real ale, cigars
    and anal sex.

They do a nice line in manure for roses to.
Apparently manure from the bull is better than the stuff from the cow.
It turns roses into deep rosso Ducati's.

sounds interesting, might pop over tomorrow.

You know, despite the fact that I lived there for a couple of months
in '85, I hadn't realised Ilford actually had a "town centre". It
always just felt like an endless desert of 2nd-hand car dealers.

We have 'em in Bicester a few times a year, they are expensive, but quite
    good fun.

Last one we had was on the same day the NF were in town canvassing support
because of the Asylum Centre. It was not a nice atmosphere at all, I
actually felt a bit sorry for the French marketeers.

The ones held here (imho) cannot hold a candle to a proper French market
though, we used to go to one in Versaille when SWMBO's sister lived there,
    fecking superb it was.

  19. They have one in Sutton from time to time. Nice, but effin' expensive. I
suppose it has to be if these Froggies have to bring all their chicory
over, put themselves up for a night, or whatever.

    Nice, though.

  20. well I did have the benefit of an old fashioned french teacher when I
started to learn. She drummed in all the basic bits of the language and
its structure. I studied French to A Level so have a reasonable
understanding of the written language. My spoken french is (IMO) very
    poor though.
