What does it do? Print a report of each program you might watch?

"The first one wasn't anything like the schedule said, the second was
good - you should've watched it - and the third was so so. What's on
tomorrow? Can you set me to watch some more period drama? I like
    those."

My mate has had a Tivo for years. It's so well 'trained' that he feels
guilty now when if it records something and he doesn't watch it.

    NFI, mate.

As has been pointed out, it's great if you want to watch telly on it,
which is obviously why I bought it but I thought the things like
Teletext not working (quickly), what's on now/next having the times
wrong and the picture freezing for a few seconds were just things that
    didn't work.

I never thought about them being bugs. Oh, and the thing that *is*
annoying is the thing is supposed to tell you there are extra channels
and please perform a scan but this one doesn't, and according to the
many reviews, it isn't just mine.

I frequent DigitalSpy for that sort of info

Nice one, cheers. I see there's a lively debate about Eurosport or Sky
One taking over from E4 ;)

If Eurosport ever makes it to DTT then I suspect it will still be a
paid service. If not TUTV then whatever takes it place.

Do you know of anything that will replace it? It seems like a good thing
to me and has been going in one incarnation or another for a few years
now. If TUTV is here to stay then I think they should put some quality
channels on it; the likes of UKTV Gold etc are utter rubbish (although
sometimes I watch it) and things like FTN which are free are much better
IMO. I really wouldn't want to see MTV on there unless there were other
channels bundled in with it too because it's less about the music now
and more about that fucking Dirty Sanches. VH1 wouldn't be a bad thing,
    though.

No. Its just I am not convinced that with their current channel
line-up and the number of subscribers (and given how many boxes are
out there that don't support TUTV) that its can survive.
It would be, except there is nothing to attract me at the moment.
There is a porn channel (Red Hot?) which offers a different pay-view
alternative which includes paying for just one night's viewing.

Well I must admit the reason for me subscribing is Discovery and H&L but
because they don't show the whole thing and put it on at some obscure
time of the day (6am to midday) it's a disappointment. Discovery's
better at 12 'til 12 but they really want to be putting the whole
schedule on to make it worthwhile. What I mean is you can be sitting
there watching something and a trailer comes on for something that looks
watchable but because it's on H&L at 9pm you can't watch it and the
cheeky sods tell you that it's on TUTV channel 28.
Yep, Red Hot. Television X is the same but I don't know if that works on
a nightly basis. I've seen the ten minute preview at midnight and TBH
    it's embarrassing.

Discovery would be nice (there is a doc on a re-examination off the
Tut mummy on in a week), but nothing I would lay out money for.
Eurosport I would pay a fiver for and maybe even a tenner a month but
I am a lowly USS [1] or at least I will be from August,

I wouldn't mind if they kept Discovery, gave us Sky One and Eurosport
and ditched the others, they're really not worth watching (with the
current schedule) but kept the subscription at the £7.99 a month it is
now. At least it isn't a contract you're bound into for 12 months.

On my TiVo I turned off the setting to record what it thought I would
like. Even now when I look at it's suggestions it has a load of tat[1].

[1] No, it's not because I only watch tat.

AIUI you have to give the suggestions a thumbs up or a thumbs down in
order to train it to your taste. Have you done this?

Yes. Additionally it gives everything you record an automatic thumbs up,
so even if one didn't train it, it should still work stuff out. Basically
I'm very choosy and don't watch too much anyway, so I'm not bothered.
