You will need to do a re-tune to pick it up (all 4 boxes I've
added it to haven't picked it up automatically)

    Channel 38.

Same here, though i came across it last night and had a chuckle. With today
being the last day of a 5 week holiday, and the sun's out, I think the bike
will see more action than the TV...

Also, keep an eye on E4, it's going free to air on Freeview at the end
    of the month.

Unfortuantely I think the change over coincides with the new series of
Big Brother which I believe shows on E4 24/7?

So the good stuff might be a few weeks later.

Now I've got my PVR working, I've got a machine to do it for me.

So get it on topup tv for a month for £7.99. You'll get a few other
    channels thrown in as well.

BTW, there's another channel with M&M, xtraview (channel 36) where you
get the extras for a quid for a night but the thing is, you only get the
channels for a poultry few hours.

Have you got those Thompson boxes? Mine don't let you know so you have
to rely on people phoning you up to tell you there's extras.

Plus the cost of a new box with a CAM in it.
It's not worth the money as it is and without E4 I think their
    subscription figures will fall.
Which seems like even more of a waste of money than topup.

Yes and no. You get (ATM) E4, UKTV Gold, TCM, UKTV Style, Discovery,
Home and Leisure, Bloomburg, Boomerang, Cartoon network and one or two
others I forget. That's on top of all the others making around 100
channels if you include the 30 or so radio channels.

The no bit is that the time schedules are a bit funny on the pay
channels. For instance, H&L only runs from 6am to midday and Discovery
(which is the channel I watch more than all others) is on from midday to
midnight, so don't go running out to buy a Freeview box thinking you can
have 24/7 access to the extras for £7.99 because it doesn't work the
same as if it's on cable or satellite.

E4's crap IMO and it's one of the channels I pay for that I don't watch.
I sometimes watch UKTV Gold but apart from that I'm really paying £7.99
for discovery. I wouldn't miss the others (if H&L was on 24/7 that would
    be some consolation)

The C90 test and the eating food on a bike test were rather funny. :)

.... and there's a distinct possibility that now E4's free to air, a lot of
the sort of stuff they've been showing in the past will no longer be
    available to them.

My Pace DTVA found it automatically, but the newer Humax PVR needed a
    manual re-scan.

The only program I have watched so far was one introducing Jodie Kidd
(nice) to the delights of biking. Not sure how she was let out on the
streets with no sign of a CBT or L-plates though [1]

[1] Unless she already has a bike licence and was just faking it.

I am actively pursuing getting an analogue satellite dish & box and
    learning German.

That's the funny thing. I've been alerted to available software/firmware
updates that can be downloaded over the air.

The one's before M&M were Teachers TV and Red Hot[1]
Possible. She could be a born again.

[1] Why does anyone bother with these when there's so much /good/ porn
on the internet? I mean, a monthly subscription to their very soft porn
channels will buy you a cheap broadband package.

No, it's not that bad - E4's regular schedule runs alongside BB, but they
show BB live from, IIRC, midnight to 6am and then at various other slots
    during the day.
