OT Fox Hunting (kind of)

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Grimley_Feindish, Sep 17, 2004.

  1. Finally someone hits the nail soundly on the head.

Whatever I feel about hunting (spectacle of load of twats in pinks
outside the pubs is pretty - fucking up people fences and lawns is a
fucking nuisance) it really is rather low down the list of things that
parliamentary time (and the Parliament Act) could be used for.

Much as I hate to agree with an established member of the Manglement
Team, the Establishment and uberBHALC proponent, you are right on the
money there, in a fine and concise manner. Arse.

So only one thing at a time can be sorted by parliament? Interesting
    view...

    *DING*

I was gobsmacked to hear a Tory peer say on TV that he'd have to have
his horses put down if hunting was banned.

They claim it's all about going out for a nice ride, and killing the fox
is only a minor part. Well, let's see.

FWIW, horse riders in Guernsey, which doesn't have foxes, seem to manage
to have fun on horseback. They go out on massive rides where a few dozen
get together and follow a pre-planned route, much like a UKRM rideout.

The suggestion that horses will be put down and farriers etc thrown out
of work is a bit like UKRM saying we couldn't do a BOTAFOT if we weren't
allowed to beat someone up at the England's Rose.

We used to get warnings posted at work to warn drivers' of hunts that may
be crossing lines. We were to stop (a fucking train!) for them [1].

This has stopped now. It would appear, unfortunately , that a number of
hunts enjoyed a hound/horse 116 ton diesel engine interface scenario.

There is a film [2] where a fox deliberately leads a hunt onto the
railway and the hounds meet a Western class diesel hydraulic type ending.
I'm pretty sure the crew were Westbury based, or was that the Titfield
    Thunderbolt at Green Park...

[1] I passed for driving in 1989, I can recall notices being posted
    up until about 1994.

    [2] A Disney one from the '70s? I can't recall its name.

And so they should as well. Having said that, few owners have been reported
as hunting down their beloved pets and tearing them apart with a pack of
    wild dogs.

  9. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "TMack"
Shooting, gassing, etc, all have their drawbacks.

Nah, make the hoorays chase them on foot.

If there were loads of Germans, then yes, that's where I live. The whole
area is popular with Germans, Belgians and a limited number of Brits.

No foxes, loads of water rats. My g/f ran over one a couple of weeks ago
on her XV250, scared the crap out of her...

That's the point about our legislative system though innit. Don't want
majority rule, don't want minority rule, what do you need? Bill of Rights?
