We were having a darned-good boggle at a telly prog we watched the other
night about the so-called "Nanny State" and were gobsmacked at the utter
ludicrousness of some of the local government decisions; the one where
the local council banned people from swimming the back-stroke in the
local municipal baths in case they collide with some other pool user who
might then sue, was but one...

This isn't nanny state for the sake of it, though. This is local
government protecting the income /it receives from taxation/ on being
spent on ambulance-chasing lawyers and free-loading, litigation happy
    plaintiffs.

Or, we can let anyone we want sue local councils, and all enjoy
council tax being trebled. Which would you prefer?

If those numpties hadn't sued, you can bet that the decision to ban
the backstroke wouldn't have been made.

    Ben Blaney says...
No its not. If it was about animal cruelty then they would have banned
fishing and keeping cats as well.

It may have been the right legislation but it was done for all the wrong
    reasons.

Stuff your personal insults up your arse - you know nothing about me.
That was kinda my point, the person I replied to said more or less what
you did and my point was that this lot are just as bad. Parties in
opposition say and do anything to get elected and when in power behave
as they want and stuff everyone else.

Completely disagree. Depends on the nature of the club, the staff and
    customers.

  20. Nah - who told you that? The fox loves it - they look on it like TOG
    and death threats.

I could understand the ban if BT got off its arse and made broadband
available to rural areas where the hunted foxes live, but until then,
don't deny them the pleasure of taunting a few hounds and then pissing
    off on holiday.
