    So does my Sprint ST.[1]

I don't think I've looked at it in nearly two years of ownership. I
just have it set to display the time, and that's it.

[1] Along with several other functions.

heh. Mine appears to be stuck on a rather low figure[1], so maybe I'll
rectify that on the weekend of the 2nd-3rd May.

[1] I think this is the first bike I've had that I still haven't had up
to its proper top speed. How lame is that?

TBH I'm not 100% sure I've even gone over the ton.

    <fx: thinks>
Yes, I have, at least once. Pretty sure I never did on my old Triple.
    I'm not very fast.

Each to their own. Mine is on about 140-something.

So what did Simon do then?

According to the T-shirt he made up [1] 118

Although one of my then staff members got > 125 IIRC.

[1] And the max speed thingy, obviously but I needed to get the T-shirt
reference in as well: 118 CIHAGM.

Yes, I'm a big girly wuss with a frilly blouse and a woman's speed. No
offence to Adie and Ellie, and any other women that are considerably
    faster than I.

Hehee. That reminds me of a little incident: I'd been out for a play
in the lanes with Elly (f'naar) and we were about to join the Bedford
bypass - I can-scraped the way round the roundabout, then we were at
the top of the slip road when I saw the nose of her CBR600FSport out
of the corner of my eye. Hah! Redlines all the way up the 'box on
the B12, join the bypass at eek+15, all the way to eekannahalf or so,
look in mirror and ease off - there's a small bright dot, on the
    horizon.

Suddenly a shiny red blur makes me feel like I've stopped and found
    reverse ;-)

Took me the rest of the bypass to catch 'er up, and then only 'cos
    she'd backed off. She'm a good gurl.

    whhhaaaaaatt???

The only vehicles I've not done more than the ton on are those not
capable of it. I've maxed out just about every vehicle I've ever owned
    [1].

[1] only seen ~140mph or so on the RX, as it needs a wheel balancing
and the vibes were getting a little uncomfortable.

Partly cos I *need* my licence, but mostly cos of general wetness.
And TBH I'm not sure where I could find space to run most of my fleet to
flat out. Unless I went out at the small hours deliberately to do it,
    and that has no appeal.

As Darsy just revealed his recent license pass.... ;o)

My 728 handled and braked in a manner nothing that large has any right
    to.

The first time I changed the pads myself I understood the braking
performance. The callipers are a real class act.

I'm with Ben on this one. Life is too short for Diesels and the only one
I've owned was for off roading and lugging trailers.

I have temporarily expanded my Sig to reinforce a personal commitment to
CO2 emmissions and I'm orf shortly to peruse adding another 2.8L of
    Global Climate Improvement potential.

(GCI: a warmer Britain with less rain, drier deeper powder snow
conditions across Europe and North America, far fewer 3rd world johnnies
    on the planet)

  17. The Scoob flat four is bloody brilliant.

    Ahem. For a diesel.

    Seriously, though, it's a sub-9 second 0-60 car.

First thing I did when I passed my test and took a GPz550(?) out for a
test ride. Just seemed to be one of those things that had to be done.
