Doubt I'll be able to make it - bad week work wise. If you're in
Bassett tonight anyway, I could probably escape for half an hour & meet
at Churchill House for a swift half?

S'OK, I was only kidding, what with the prediction of 5-15cm of snow
    this evening :)

Whereabouts in Swindon are you anyway, as I'm currently doing the
Trans-Gloucestershire Autobahn to GWH run on a regular basis again?
Trips that way over the next few days are subject to weather though.

The video quality isn't great though, and I'd perhaps prefer to have it
on a PC with HDD that I had control of. And that wouldn't have the
    (admittedly small) monthly charge

Then again, if the kit connects directly to the router and negates the
need to run a PC, the monthly charge is offset by the lack of a PC so
    that's OK.

You thought I'd take the bike? Not a chance - that's the road I nearly
    ditched the Jeep on!
I'm right over t'other side near J16. I.e. about 3 hours away from GWH
if you go through Old Town at the moment, thanks to the roadworks.
They've opened the new flyover by GWH today so that should make your
    trips a bit easier.

I will do, but to save you getting over excited, the important bit is
actually in Andy's post, namely "...an IP camera and sends images to a
    gmail account..."

I'd not realised that IP cameras were now smart enough to send e-mail
themselves directly (without a PC) timed or in response to motion, can
upload to FTP servers instead, and some have built in web servers so you
can connect to them directly. Just plug them into your hub/router.
