No fever but I'll add ibuprofen in to the next dose for the anti
    inflammatory properties.
Poor man's speed. Again I'll add that in.
Oh nice, saves me having to dig Mimms out.

See, this is why I didn't ask MattG [1], you just get far too much
biological detail. Though it is very soothing when you're lying in bed
feeling utterly awful to have the biological processes whispered in
    your ear. [2]

[1] besides the fact he's at work identifying things with strange
names - apparently there's one called AS (K)? which stands for
    'another sodding'

[2] The mating call of the biomedical scientist.

  5. I've found a VitC bomb, 1 gramme once a day, helps.

    Agreed.

I take the 1500mg once a day and more often if I feel a bug starting.

He needs to walk into a lake carrying a stick in his mouth. As the water
level rises the flu germs will climb up his body to avoid getting wet.
Eventually the germs will climb onto the stick as the water goes over his
head. He then releases the stick and the germs float away. Job done.

Be careful with this advice, if you forget to tip your head back the
germs will go right on past the stick and end up inside your hair
    turning it ginger.

    DAMHIK, IJD, OK?

The evidence for this is well dodgy though, and taking more than 500mg a day
is a waste of time, cos it just pisses straight through you

Yup. Also free radicals are used by white blood cells to attack
invading organisms, and Vit C is an antioxidant (mops up free
    radicals)...

They're not allowed to put that kind of information down since drowning
    quotas were abandoned.

Which evidence? If you only look at Pauling's work (perhaps the best
known, given the award for the book) then yes there are criticisms to
    be made.

Hemilia et al's 1992 review of the studies since 1970 selected only
randomised, double blind studies in which at least 1 gramme was given.
38 clinical trials which satisfied these requirements were found. 37
of the 38 concluded that Vit C has a protective effect greater than
    the placebo.
    High doses are slow release.
