After searching the web and not getting anything in simple English...

I would like to buy someone a DAB radio, but I want it to have a
record function - preferably recording onto cassette because if it
records onto something else, I'll have to buy the something else
    portable player as well.

At the moment, all I can find that says it records DAB is a Morphy
Richards DAB EPG, and also Pure's Bug (although the MR claims its
unique in its recording). Both record onto SD cards so I'd need to get
something portable that plays back SD cards.

If this makes no sense, that's what happens when two techno numpties
    talk...

I assume you've run their postcode through the checker to see if they
can get DAB? - I have a lovely DAB radio, bought when we lived in Milton
Keynes, but it doesn't work since we moved house.

I'll give you a fiver for it but you'll have to send it FOC.

I don't know, but I would like to know the same, so if you find one
    that works I'd be interested.

I have to say that all the DAB radios I've seen either look nasty or
are nasty. I can't understand the obssession with retro or funky
styling - why not just "normal"? The only one I've seen that was
vaugely normal cut out after a variable period of time when it was
    playing digital radio. Pretty useless.

I've been thinking about DAB radios, but I'll prolly wait a bit in the
hope that they come down in price...

    Whats an SD card?

That would most probably be a "Secure Digital" memory card.

discussion of capacity for different content-types...)

They sound a bit shit, too. And they don't work in semi-basement flats: at
least not the radios I've tried

    Sounds like there's a market for a DAB radio that a) isn't shit, b)
just works like a normal radio does.

IKWYM. I spent ages to find one that looked ok to give as a present and
    apparently its shite. Oh well.

Has anyone had a good experience of DAB radios?

I bought a Bush CR2004 DAB clock radio from John Lewis a month or so
back. It does exactly what I want of it - plays FM and DAB radio
stations and wakes me in the morning at the appropriate time.

I went for the CR2004 as a) it was one of the cheaper options and b)
it doesn't look like a bakelite refugee from the 50s.

Looks ok and if it does what it says on the tin then that's a result!
    Thanks.

Currently my alarm clock loses about a minute each week so I'm
constantly having to readjust the time. Damn thing.

No, I can't stick this stupid wood look either. And asking around, the
opinion on digital radio overall appears to be "it's shite". So
perhaps we'll just leave it for a while...

Tks - didn't want to buy one online though. Although I have now
abandoned the task as apparently being way ahead of it's time.
AM? What use is that for cricket?
