OT FOAK: car rental here with trip to France

    and Spain. Is it possible? I think last time I rented a car here (Hertz?)
    there was a small print about not being possible to travel abroad etc.
    Have you ever done something like that?

    I've done it with vans. I can't believe there aren't any car rental
    companies that do it.

    One oddity I do remember was, when we hired a car in Spain, we were
    told we were uninsured for Gibraltar. Bloody dagoes.

    Yeah I've rented a van. You are uninsured if you do it without telling
    them though (which costs more, 'cos they take out extra breakdown cover
    etc.).

    They give you a letter too, to prove to customs/wahtever that you are
    not nicking it. I wasn't asked to show this, but they insisted it's
    possible.
