OT Firewire problem

    If the camera has a firewire socket, then it will support DV Out. The
    variable is DVin as this puts it into a different tax bracket.

    Yep, first and only time I tried this with mine, I got an arc from cable
    to socket as I put it close enough. I always have the camcorder off when
    inserting or pulling the cable.
    I've used 2 camcorders on my PC, one Sony and one Canon, both were
    detected automatically. No special drivers.

    Yes, it was turned on.

    The replacement cable arrived this morning and all is working properly now
    so I is a happy bunny.
