OT FAOK: *Long* coat

It appears that I might well be commuting into London courtesy of TFL
over the winter. This means that I need something in which I can keep
reasonably warm on freezing platforms, and preferably dry when it pisses
    it down.

Looking around today didn't fill me with hope, but I suddenly realised
that what was wrong with the heavy Mackintosh / trenchcoat type thing
was that they weren't long enough.

So I'd like an ankle (or nearly so) length coat to try on.

I'm thinking a drizabone stockman's coat would be suitably dramatic, but
the only bricks and mortar stockist I can find until Carol Hewitt gets
to work on Monday is Nauticalia.

Anyone know of anywhere that stocks this, or similar? Or will I have to
just buy on line and send it back if I don't like it?

    TIA

I've got a Hugo Boss overcoat that reaches down to 10" from the ground.
Apparently the model is Facel Vega so it must be posh.

I've got a Barmah Squashy Kangaroo hat, it's great both in the sun and
rain. The Stockman looks like the coat I've been after. I've only got
short jackets that don't keep all of me dry, especially as I walk to and
    from work every day.

Is it water proof though? I have a rather nice overcoat already, I just
end up smelling like a wet sheep[1].

    [1] Well goat, actually.

With a spray of special stuff it seems to be. Like all leather you need
to treat it. I use mink oil/saddle soap. Its bloody heavy though.
    Not thin crap leather.

You'd better take off your homburg 'cause your overcoat is too long.

    I'll get my coat....

  19. Well yes, waterproof is perhaps not the best term, certainly capable of
making sure the leather doesn't absorb the water though.
