OT : Exploding Televisions.

    Interesting, I'd not seen that, this bit “*Note: you need a 1.8Ghz or
    faster PC to play DivX movies.” tells me it does a fare bit of the
    decoding in software but then this bit “Uses 10Mbit or 100Mbit
    Ethernet,” suggests that with MPEG2 the decoding is done buy the unit as
    DVD data rates are up to 10Mbps, this means that to play DIVX it either
    splits decompression between the CPU and the unit [1] or the CPU has to
    transcode from DIVX to MPEG2 on the fly, it'll make quite a good winter
    heater.

    [1] as far as I know none of the three DIVX chip [2] support this
