Hmm, I have a Hitachi widescreen and chose it because I thought it was
a non-pikey make. It's basic but seems to work ok.

previously mentioned.

 

Definitely, the basic Hitachi 28 and 30" widescreens are both rebadged
Beko / Bush tellys.

 

Is 'them' here a nifty device which I can plug into my firewire port and
plug any other device such as a tv decoder into the input?

Bugger, been doing that for years. Is there a self-help/support group?

 

No, “them” is the TV decoder it self, most have a component, S-Video or
at least composite video input for digitising video from other sources.
