Anyone know of some software, or even an on-line thingy that can transfer
the entire contents of a website to a computer, to enable it to be read off
    line.

We're going to france day after tommorow, and i've found a site that lists
all the free 'aires' that we can stop off at, (yes we're taking the
motorhome for accomodation, and the bike on the back)

But when in france i wont have any internet access, i have mobile access in
the UK in the form of a GPRS data card, but that's too expensive to use
    abroad.

I remember using frontpage to download a website once, but it would only
download the first few layers of pages,

This site has thousands of links to display all the info on a, select by
country, then select region on a map, then select the aire you want and it
opens a window up with the details.

I just want to download the whole lot, without having to open every page by
    hand and saveing it,
anyone know how to do this.

using IE, i have frontpage but as i said, last time i tried this it didnt
    work.

Yeah, synchronise in IE but don't ask me how I've forgotten :)

I've got the entire internet in text format if you want to borrow it.
I'll warn now, there's quite a few disks.

Just drive down the motorway and read the signs, they are at *extremely*
    regular intervals.

    This site? http://www.eurocampingcar.com/index2.php3?lg=uk&cat_id=0

You can buy a book at the ferry port for £8.50 or after arriving in France
there are a number of publication on sale (or free) in petrol stations.
Fold out map is just 5 Euro.

If using Internet Explorer the help pages tell you what to do. It's the
third item on the help/contents-index menu. You can set the number of
layers that synchrinosation downloads. Whether it will work with pop-ups
    mind.

Looking through some of the older kit at work, we've still got plenty
    5.25" disks, and BNC cabling.

Is there a market for old stuff? 8086/286/386 era? Seems a shame to
just get rid when it could give some saddo a smile. Any ideas?

Make available offline in IE but you also have to specify how "deep" to go
(number of pages deep) and this can get silly big if they have a lot of
    aderts etc on the pages.

I seem to remember hearing about a company that recycles old PC's and sends
    them to the 3rd world?

Not too long ago I did a bit of EKS for an electronics manufacturing firm.
They were still using a Motorola test unit with a CP/M OS

I sourced some old kit for the National Deaf Children's Society in
Norfolk a couple of years ago, & they were well chuffed with it. I'm
sure there must be somewhere near you that would appreciate it.

I've binned all of my 5.25" disks (including my copy of Windows 286), but I
think I still have a drive or two kicking around in the garage. I'm also
got my Compaq 286SLT and 386 luggable there, but ISTR that the latter has
    gone to silicon heaven.

I've still got my 20Mb full-length hard-card knocking around somewhere,
    though.

  19. If you are have a Palm device you can use a combo of:

Plucker (one of the best offline html readers)

Sunrise Desktop (prepares .pdb files for use by Plucker)

Pluckers runs on your palm device, Sunrise Desktop runs on your PC and
will grab the website (descending as many levels as you like into the
site) and package it up for use by plucker.
One quick hotsync later and you have the entire site sat on your palm
device (or on a removable memory stick if you prefer).

    I have used Memoweb
    <http://www.goto.fr/telechargement/telecharger_memoweb_aspiration_internet.asp>
    for this.

Of course it's in French, and a trial version...
but that shouldn't be a problem since
    Bon voyage!
