Well yes, usually, but even whole toms, and certainly queens, can
adopt a kitten-like role in relation to their 'owners'.

    What sort of bikes?

I mean, there are some bikes that really aren't good at all.[/QUOTE]

And there are some bikes that are 'fantastic stunt machines' when owned
by a Clique member, and 'heaps of shite' when owned by me.

Probably explains why mine is still a fat fucker. We got a bollocking
from the vet for overfeeding her and as a result strictly ration the
amount she gets to ensure it's correct for her size and target weight.

She doesn't appear to be losing any weight...

One of ours broke hers - we don't know how - when about 6 months old.
The vet just cleaned up the ragged edges and said not to worry - it'll
never heal, but she'd be fine as it was. And she is - you'd never know
    there was anything wrong.

  17. He got run over, survived (obviously) and managed to get up a set of
metal steps to the flat where we lived. With a shattered pelvis, two
broken back legs and several very large patches of missing skin.

He was 10 months old at the time.

I found him hiding under the chair in the living room and pretty much
twigged that something was wrong (his behaviour was very atypical) so
got my parents. Who took one look at him and rushed him to the vets.

Vet examined him and told my parents that they had ten minutes to
decide whether he operated or put the cat to sleep.

He then lived the next 3 months in a cage (even when he got home) to
    allow his pelvis to re-knit.

He lived to 14 (not bad for a pedigree silver tabby) and eventually
died of cancer while I was away at Polytechnic.

It's amazing what they can do, isn't it?
Ours was running around on it for several weeks before it was
diagnosed. The first vet didn't x-ray it and thought there was nothing
wrong. After the clean-up she was fine, although limping slightly, by
the next day. Couple of weeks later she was right as rain, climbing,
and jumping down out of, trees, up the walls, off the furniture, etc.
    etc.

To a greater or lesser extent, yes, but in the case of newtered
animals it's usually very much on the lesser side of that.
That was the statement that started this sub-thread. On what do you
    base this assumption, exactly?
