From that age they're not yet fully adult, so there's a fair chance,
especially in only 'semi' feral, that they'll take to human contact.
    That's just you. HTH.

I suspect you're right. Interesting, but not that much.

  7. Well quite. They are primary carnivores who discovered that shacking up
with humans was a pretty good survival strategy. And involved having
copious food and warm places to sleep. They *are* cute and have distict
personalities but ascribing human qualities to them is pretty foolish.
And I speak as someone who has had cats all his life..
    Why thank you.
Just as well we only have 2 cats now. We'll ignore the 4 dogs for the
    moment..

  9. I guess a dogs brain size would be dependent on the size of the dog. So
our dachshund (who has a braincase not much bigger than a cat) would
have a teaspoonfull whereas Jed (head almost human sized) would have a
    pint glass full?

  10. Not entirely true from what I recall. Maybe while they are in the house
or in our presence but once outside they revert to adult to hunt, breed
    and maintain their territory.
Again - cats will stay where they are if it ticks all the right boxes
(food, warmth and company). If any of the essentials (to them) are not
present then a cat will soon leave and look for another home. Unlike a
dog where the pack instinct is so strong that a dog will stay in a
    place where they are abused.

  11. Ours get buried in the garden and a plant planed on top of them. That
way at least we get *some* benefit out of it.. (Cheryls idea, not
    mine).

AOL. I'm keenly watching Big Cat Live of an evening, but that may be
as much to do with Kate Silverton as anything else, to be honest.

I had one that did return to the old house and keep doing so. She
managed to get locked in while it was being renovated by builders
because the cat flap was on in only mode. The hid under the
floorboards, it was several days before they noticed and she had to be
    collected.

One of out ex neighbours had some form of ornamental bird life in
their garden, I unremember what. On her next return she killed them,
we couldn't keep her at the new house at all.

  16. <Gross generalisation alert>

Ones that live on busy roads develop it quite quickly.. for obvious
    reasons.

It comes down to what they experience as youngsters - if they get
frightened by cars when they are young they tend to develop a healthy
respect for them. Living on quiet roads they often don't develop the
    fear.

I've only ever had one family cat run over - he didn't die although he
lived the rest of his life (about 12 years post-accident) with no head
of the femur on his right rear leg. Didn't stop him catching
    squirrels..

Great cat, good personality. Even though he was a small cat he ruled
    our neighbourhood.
