.. . as subject. Any sites where one can browse tents &c. and even better,
have a paper catalogue sent (to a UK address)?

They sent me an 'offers' catalogue. Not sure if they do a regular one
    though.

Other pages of camping stuff and a naturally a mirrored site in French.
Mostly their own Quecha line, but the odd Coleman tent etc.

I don't intend to buy any Decathlon stuff after my last bicycle (stolen
after six months) lasted a week before the pedals sheared. I took it back
and they fixed it, but charged me for the new component (only 'labour' was
included in the guarantee, apparently). The long and the short of it is
that their stuff is shite, and I paid ~ 350EUR for the bike, too.

Our experience of Decathlon so far has been OK. At least with clothing,
including wet suits. The only disappointment being some, admittedly very
cheap, rock climbing shoes for the lad. The rubber wasn't up to his
Platinum BRYCS standard (he has 'Evolv' now). A Quecha thin fleece he
    has is brilliant.

When we bought bikes for France we went for really pikey Mercier and
Poulidor badged supermarket jobs, so our expectations weren't high. For
occasional light use they have been fine. The lad was talking about
replacing his Casino own label 24inch (BTW Casinos own cycle speedos are
amazing value and durable) with a 26inch Decathlon 'Rockrider', so
    thanks for the tip.

Yep, stay away from Décathlon is my advice. I've been scouting around
looking for a quality tourer to do next year's Big Trip, and this one's
top of the list at the moment ..

... but it's around a grand (pounds sterling, I mean), and that's before you
start adding stuff like pannier racks etc.

I've used Complete Outdoors http://www.completeoutdoors.co.uk/ seems
    pretty good.
It's located between Hemel Hempstead & Berkhampstead in Herts.
Reasonable website & prices are OK.
